Membership Policies

Membership

Any member can nominate a member. The criteria are that the nominee has Director/VP level or higher on their resume for a minimum of five years, a six-figure income and a recommendation from you that they are a "giver" meaning that the membership prospect will be as eager to help as be helped. Our members agree to have their contact information posted on the Web site and are required to keep it up to date. Participation in meetings is contingent on acceptance and receipt of the new member's contact information, resume and an active Gold Membership account on SengSuite.com.

If they meet the criteria, you may forward their resume to Raleigh Ormerod, Chair, with your recommendation.

Admin@SengSuite.org

If it is determined that the person you recommend does not qualify, you as the sponsor will be required to inform them of the decision. Titles like consultant, manager, controller, etc do not qualify. As we know many outplacement firms recommend clients work as consultants while they are in transition but unfortunately the title does qualify. Remember the integrity of this recommendation rests with you.

There are annual membership dues payable upon acceptance into SENG-NE and will be required upon activation of your membership in the website members-only areas and before attendance at meetings. In addition, there are admission fees for events, unless listed otherwise. These are listed on the home page, each paid member area page, and within the event registration instructions.

All payments for memberships and events is handled by the online registration.

Criterion for Job Postings to the SENG-NE Update Emails

Any job posting must fit the admission requirements for SENG-NE. The position must be Director/VP level or higher in the Title. It also must fit the six-figure income criterion. The purpose of this is to keep E-mail at a minimum and to stay within our mission. It will be distributed to members via the Update Emails.

Inclusion in the SENG Suite Update Emails are accomplished by submission of a form within the GOLD or SENG For Life Membership areas.

Other Announcements Postable in the Update Emails

Suggested first word in Header Titles for Announcements

1. LEAD - describing a job opportunity
2. ORG - announcements from Industry Partners or Sponsors
3. INTRO - announcing yourself to members
4. EVENT - upcoming job fairs and networking events
5. LANDING - letting people know that or how you got your new job
6. LEARN - training, schooling, certification, continuing education

Use Targeted Replies to Update Postings

PLEASE reply ONLY to the author of the update posting, and not to other SENG members, and the SENG administrator.

REMEMBER to include any information and attachments requested by the author of the bulletin.

SENG-NE has around 1,000 members and alumni. Therefore, maximize the effectiveness of your email by identifying yourself and that you saw the posting on the SENG Update Posting, even if you think that the information is repetitious.

Non-Solicitation

SENG has always had a strict non-solicitation policy, so members do not pitch products and services to each other. This keeps the focus on job transition, professional development, and helping others. This is also very important when reaching into the inner circle network of other SENG members.

We do not permit any consulting business development activity at morning networking events. One is not permitted to distribute contact information of our membership to others outside of our forum, which includes the creation of lists. Contact information is to be used for the sole purpose to benefit our members to network with one another. If you want to connect a member with an external person, you must do so via email with a cc: to the member. This manages the unwanted and unknowing sharing of info.

Sometimes a SENG member will start their own professional service business and that is a very worthy transition. They may continue to participate in the SENG networking meetings and professional development activities if they are not fully employed and are therefore also looking for full time employment or board positions. If they are not actively seeking new employment, members and alumni are encouraged to participate in the SENG sponsored professional development activities to ‘sharpen the saw’ and in the alumni events to expand their network and help other SENG members through job transitions.

When Guests are Appropriate

Guests are encouraged at Alumni Events, usually held in the evening. The event announcements and invitations will clearly state when guests are welcome to participate. When you invite guests, be sure to follow up with them and invite them to be sponsored by you if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Morning structured networking groups, workshops, and other programs are for members only. We have learned that many members feel far more comfortable in asking for help, helping, and networking with paid members who have agreed to abide by SENG policies and principles.

SENG-NE Meeting Attire (and Zoom Protocol)

We have adopted a dress requirement for our in-person breakfast meetings. Proper attire is business, not business casual. As a professional development group, our goal is to be professional looking at all times, including at our meetings. Sport coats are acceptable. In some industries, a ties may not be required, but in some industries they are. Many of our members have met their future supervisor or hiring manager at a SENG event. Think of our meetings as an interview, and dress accordingly.

At our in-person evening events with alumni and guests, we have adopted a business casual style of attire.

At our online Zoom meetings, however, we have also adopted a business casual style of attire, but you may also dress in business attire. Some suggestions for making the best impression with online meetings is to make sure you are lit primarily from the front. Having a light source slightly above and to the left or right is ideal. Also pay attention to your background to make sure it is presentable. Virtual backgrounds may be used, but work best with a green screen behind you.
