Other Membership Expectations

SENG is a non-solicitation forum. We do not permit members to engage in direct business development activity or act as a service provider or consultant at the morning breakfast meetings. Also, SENG members do not use the forum as a means to target roles that are short term, interim, contracting, or individual side consulting assignments. However, networking to join an established consulting firm, partnership, or other established organization is acceptable, even if one is currently a ‘sole-proprietor’ consultant.

Networking for board positions, civic leadership positions, and seeking full-time employees from among fellow SENG members is also encouraged – particularly for members at or seeking C-level roles.

SENG membership only grows by referrals and endorsement by current SENG members. Please be an active participant by seeking out qualified candidates and making an endorsement for membership. To maintain your “member in good standing” status, we request each member to successfully sponsor at least one new member.

We do not have guests at the morning networking meetings.  Members prefer to know that they are sharing their insights and contacts only with others who are committed to reciprocate and respect the need for high discretion.

However, at the evening events where guests and alumni are invited, alumni who are paid members may discreetly enter conversations with other members about business development as they are gainfully employed and it would be part of a natural business conversation. They may practice their pitch and describe their ideal connections, but should not expect other members to share business development leads in the same way as job leads and connections for those seeking full-time employment.
